Dr. Pannet Pangputhipong is one of the first ophthalmologists to perform phacoemulsification in Thailand. He is known for developing surgical techniques for managing hard and complicated cataracts, commonly found in Thailand, his love of teaching and his ability to simplify his teachings. Dr. Pannet has participated in numerous live surgeries, teaching courses, and lectures in several countries. He has received numerous awards including “Best Surgeon Award” at Dr. LucioBuratto’s 1998 Video Cataratta symposium, the APACRS Certified Educator (ACE) award (2004), the Prevention of Blindness Award of the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO, 2003), and Thailand’s Outstanding Citizen Award (2007). Dr. Pannet is currently the Director of Mettapracharak Hospital and Eye Institute, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand.
